I promise that they didn't call it the F chord for nothin!
This lesson we get our first taste of the F chord. Some of you will find it easy, but most will be like me and find it a bit of a battle. We are not aiming to master F this lesson, just start work on it and learn some more cool stuff.

The F Chord
The F chord is a struggle for most beginner guitar players, but together we can do it :)
F Chord Cheats
Whether or not you can play the fully barred F chord, these variations are worth learning. They’re great on their own or as a substitute for the Barre F.
All Stop Mute
Sometimes you’ve just got to quickly stop the sound coming out of your guitar! The best way to do this is to mute all of the strings with the edge of your strumming hand.
YOUR Chord Book
We’ve all seen those massive books of guitar chords, but building your own is way better!
C Major Scale
Scales get a bad rap, but they’re super helpful learning tools! This C major scale is played all in the open position, so it’s a great one to get started on.
Ups To The All Down
Between down strums, there is an up strum, so what do you say we start incorporating some of those into these next strumming patterns?
Your pinky finger doesn’t get the same amount of attention that the other fingers do, so we’re going to work on strengthening it up a bit and building up its dexterity.
The riff from Californication by the Red Hot Chili Peppers is a great one to cap off this F chord lesson - it’s got a little bit of everything for you.
Songs For Lesson 9
The focus of this lesson has been the F and the cheats so ideally we will find some songs that use some of those chords... but not much or you might get a hand ache! I...
Chords In Keys
Now that you’ve learned the C major scale, we can start talking a little bit about music theory, specifically what it means for a song to be in the key of C.
