In this module, we'll be looking at the 5 common chord shapes on the guitar. You should already be familiar with the CAGED system that includes the C, A, G, E, and D shapes. Each of these chords has simple variations you can explore and work into your guitar playing!

These variations can be as simple as lifting or adding a finger. Now - your challenge will be to fearlessly explore these chords. You'll need to use your ears to see which one of these variations sounds good to you. Then, you can incorporate them into songs you already know and love.

In the final lesson - you'll see how you can use your capo creatively to play the same chords with different grips! Lots of fun to have here :)

Exploring New Guitar Chords

In the lessons, I'll explain the correct names of the chords as we go through them. You'll learn about the theory of the chords and why some chords might work and others won't. If you already have a JustinGuitar account, you'll be able to log in or sign-up to access downloads files with all the chords I mentioned for each shape.

Don't worry too much about the names and technical aspects of the chords. Just listen - this is the most essential part. I want you to be in the moment and step outside your comfort zone!

🔑 Work on each chord shape for at least a week before moving on to exploring another chord shape! Deliberately practice each of the chord variations - until they become instinctive!
